Computer Loaner Pool

The following procedures have been established by Information Technology Services (ITS) as a convenience to members of the Franklin & Marshall community whose laptop computers are sent away for repair.

CPR Loaner Process:

The CPR Center keeps a modest stock of loaner units available to Students and FPS. After being contacted by the CPR Center we will require that you come in and sign a release form, to pick up your loaner.

The CPR Center will loan out machines to current enrolled students faculty and Professional staff. Loaners may be made available to customers upon the completion of the diagnosis of their machine, which can take up to two business days. Loaners are provided on a first come, first serve basis, with no exceptions. We do not provide loaners to desktop owners.

The customer may use the loaner iBook as long as the machine is at Apple computer, typically no more than 3-15 business days

The customer will receive their repaired unit back only after returning the loaner back into the CPR Center.

The customer is responsible for the care and return of the Loaner and all of the accompanying items (power adapter, etc.)

If borrower experiences technical difficulties with the Loaner, he or she must seek repair or replacement at the CPR Center only. The borrower is prohibited from having the Loaner repaired at any other service center, and any fees incurred by the result of such an action will not be reimbursed by the CPR Center. This includes software support as well as hardware support.

The borrower is prohibited from opening the Loaner or installing personal hardware (such as RAM, hard drive, optical drive) for any reason. Removal of any provided internal components is also prohibited.

Identification labels affixed to the Loaner, its accessories, or its internal components shall not be removed.

Under all circumstances the borrower shall bear the entire risk of loss or theft, damage, or destruction for any cause whatsoever. In the event of loss or damage, borrower will pay a flat-rate $1,000 fee to cover the cost of the Loaner, accessories, and software licenses.

The Computer Loaner Program (hereafter “Program”) covers all PC and Macintosh notebook computers for the purposes of this agreement the term “Loaner” shall refer to a temporary replacement notebook computer. The Program does NOT cover desktop systems
